I Was Hiding.

Finding My Place is not the story of someone who always knew where she belonged.

It is the story of someone who spent years believing she had to become somebody else before she could finally be seen.

I did not build a following because I had everything figured out. People found me when I finally stopped hiding the parts of myself I thought no one would accept.

Before the platform

I thought being different meant something was wrong with me.

My voice made me feel exposed. My body made me feel judged. My past made me feel like I had already fallen too far behind.

I learned how to make myself smaller before I ever learned that I deserved to take up space.

The waiting

I kept waiting to become confident enough to begin.

I thought confidence would arrive after I changed my body, fixed my voice, escaped my past, and became easier for other people to understand.

Every time I waited to feel ready, fear received another day of my life.

The first risk

I did not post because I thought millions would watch.

I posted because, for one moment, I decided fear did not get to make the decision for me.

I was still afraid. I was still insecure. I still wondered what people would say. I simply showed up anyway.

What changed

The things I tried hardest to hide became the reason people connected.

They did not see someone perfect. They saw someone real. They saw joy, fear, awkwardness, courage, and a person learning how to belong in public.
